As long as I'm on here, I'll make a couple more comments:

When you're on the hoods in the normal hoods position with elbows slightly bent, hook your little finger behind the hooks in your bars. That'll feel weird at first but you'll get used to it. I get a callous on my little finger there in summer. That will make your grip much more secure on the hoods.

In the low hoods position with horizontal forearms, be sure to wrap as many fingers as you have available securely around the bottom of the hoods. You're going hard, so hold on hard.

On the bar tops, always wrap your thumbs around the bottom of the bar.

When I see anything rough coming, my hands tighten instinctively. I've never had my hands dislodged from the hoods or bar tops, even for an instant.
