The Barbarian was a Canadian market model. The OP's model is the 1990 version, the year that Norco updated it with elevated chainstays and switched to Deore 500LX. Yours pre-dates it and appears to be the 1989 version based on the white (SR?) crankset and white (Sanshin?) hubs. Serial number?
