While the DA doesn't float my boat, the recent XTR crank with 40/28 rings seems like it could be both pleasing and functional on a drop bar MTB build for the right frame. Maybe not beautiful, but what I'd call visually functional.
It's gorgeous, but I cheaped out and went with XT on my Yeti. Heck, for that matter I like the new Deore groupset as well. SLX and Deore are super values and offer loads of performance. When it comes down to it, they all get covered in mud and grime so what's the difference.
