I appreciate all the information. I am somewhat familiar with the Aluminium Cannondales - my good friend in college was a huge cyclist had a fancy Cannondale with the oversized tubes in 1987 - he also had a nice Bianchi. i was a runner then and did not ride. But I remember that Cannondale like it was yesterday. I just bought a used CX7 and put 35mm Michelins on it. I am having an issue with the front shifter on it - need to work on it over the weekend. It will not let me have my low gears.
Really kind of looking for a nice Japanese bike - 27s are good with me. Think about what was said I can be flexible on the index shifting but would like the shifters on the bars in some fashion - a 7 speed rear would be fine with me. Those Shimanos discussed above might be a good option. Think I want Chrome Moly triple butted would be nice. Need about a 58cm (56 is tight and some 60s are getting big) with a 33.5 inseam.
BTW: I live in Harrisburg, pa. So if any of you see a very clean quality frame with great paint that can take 1.25"/32 mm tires (I would like to avoid spreading the frame) from the factory please let me know I don't know a lot about vintage and could use all the advice I can get. Not urgent - I would like to find something kind of special.
