Any place that sells oil must also accept used oil for recycling.

Another useful solvent is kerosene, or #1 fuel oil. Not as volatile. I would't put solvents in glass, dangerous if the glass breaks. Paint cans work great, you can buy new, unused ones at the hardware store with the lid. You can fill one two-thirds full and fashion a raised "bed" or false bottom of some chicken wire to set your chain or cassette on. That way, they get cleaned by the solvent and the gunk collects at the bottom
