You want what are called "in-ear monitors". Shure and Etymotic Research both make very good ones. Expect to pay $50-100 for a decent pair, although they can easily reach $300+ for true studio models.

Make sure that whatever pair you get comes with a set of different sized earplugs, so that you can achieve a proper fit.

Due to the tight seal to block noise, they don't work well for exercise, you wind up getting a lake inside your ear.
