There should be a vent hole in the bridge. We put them in the rear face of the bridge; it could serve as a pilot hole for the OP to drill it to a wider diameter, should he choose to do so.
John, I found the pilot hole and actually on mine it was drilled through and through. So I opened the holes up to about 4 mm with graduated slow drilling (with a pin vise to hold the drills), and it took about 20 minutes. The farside hole was a good guide for the drilling. Now I'm working, but next step is to sort out the fork crown attachment of the front fender and attach the fender, then get back to the rear fender and do a trial installation. I'll use the bracket gadget, which I hate, but these Treks did not have radial brake bridge bolts.
