D'oh! I can't blame google though, I have long known the connections back there, it just never clicked to me at 7:30 in the morning after whatever adventures of the first 98% of the ride that I didn't have to end it the way I always had...

Yeah... Google Maps will avoid a tiny suburban street with no paint in favor of a massive artery with a bike lane painted on it, and they will only route you on streets.
I had hopes when I was using mytracks that Google would learn my routes and start to suggest them to myself (or other people) but that never happened. Especially w/ regard to shortcuts through parking lots etc...
