I'm skeptical about ultra light equipment. My $600 Big Agnes tent was destroyed in seconds by a wind gust on the Great Divide. All the other tents in the campground were fine. I totally accept that light weight gear is going to have a shorter lifespan, its just not as robust. It has to be strong enough to protect you in extreme conditions or what is the point?
Could you expand a bit? Fabric ripped? Poles snapped? Stakes came loose and the tent was carried away by the wind?
