Saddle position of your CX bikes

Hi there, I have asked a similar question on the bike fitting forum but it probably makes more sense to survey the CX crowd in this forum

Question: if you have both a CX and road bike, do you try and get the relative saddle/BB positions as similar as possible or do you use different positions?

The reason why I am asking is that I recently bought a CX bike. I adjusted saddle height to be the same as on my road bike but the seatpost hasn't got as much setback as my road one, so I am about 1.5cm horizontally closer to the BB than I am on my road bike. This works well in terms of bike control but every time I ride the road bike, due to the slightly changed position, it feels little weird for the first few miles. I have also just developed a kind of knee pain that I have never experienced before. It might be totally unrelated to the bike position question, but then maybe there is a connection....so really just interested to see how everybody else is handling this...
