Yes, the bus probably has space to drive forward, but the legal lane would be pulling to the left, so any bicycle, or car, caught in the "middle" lane would be in danger.

Around here most bus drivers seem to be courteous and conscientious around bicycles. But they are working vehicles that make a lot of stops and starts. Usually somewhat predictable, but one must use caution around them. They are bigger than a bicycle, and a small miscalculation on either the bike rider's part, or the driver's part, or perhaps a combination of the two can be deadly.
