IME there are two perspectives which color how people respond to these situations.

Many here are highly focused on right and wrong, the law, and what drivers should do.

I take the opposite tack and rarely speak about what drivers are supposed to do. One reason is that this a bicycle forum, not a bus driver's forum, so there's no point "advising" bus drivers, who aren't reading my post, about their conduct or misconduct. OTOH - there is a benefit to discussing the options for the cyclists and what they can do to stay alive longer.

Likewise, when riding, I don't depend on what drivers should do, but instead consider what they can or may do, and ride accordingly.
