OK, I just noticed something. The Giant site for Norway shows the ATX with suspension forks. I compared the pics from the web site in Canada and it looks like the chainstay and top tubes are exactly the same length. The difference is the length of the forks. Since some mountain frames can be either used with 80mm or 100mm suspension forks, I suspect they used a rigid fork corrected for 80mm on the one for the Canadian site. The one in Norway is 100mm.
The Giant site in Germany shows slightly higher end parts and a weight of 12.2kg. At under 27 lbs, I think that's very good since a bike from Canadian Tire can be like 40 lbs. So even equipped with rear rack and fenders this should be way nicer going uphill.
