Upgraded gear inches (Sheldon Brown) to theoretically go as fast as the 700c people. 100psi tires, etc. But always felt I was working too hard and it never felt 'right' or safe at speed, especially descending. Never could keep up with my crew. Bought a $600 700c road bike from BD. Now when riding with the crew, I just roll, it just glides better. It's like the tall wheels are long legs. Just my experience.
