my sram Rival RD 10sp has taken many abuse on my daily commute and it's still going strong and smooth with minimal maintenance. I even managed to land and slide on the drive side and bent the dropout (leaving a huge gash on the RD's main body), and didn't even need to adjust the cable tension.
If you are buying parts I would consider to look for Force 10sp shifter, the shifting is much more refine based on my experience.
