I agree on the crank arms. Maybe it's possible to get 'em straight, but it's more effort than it's worth. Also, aluminum doesn't like being cold set and you don't want to weaken the crank arm. Breaking a crank arm on a ride would really suck and could lead to injury.
I'd anticipate the spindle's probably OK. It's hardened steel, so it's pretty unlikely to bend. Even if it's fine, though, there's a good chance you'll need a new one anyway, unless you select a replacement crankset that's designed for the same spindle length. (From what I've been able to look up, your original spindle is likely a 3P -- 119 mm, asymmetric, 3 mm longer on the drive side: 32-52-35.)
The bright side: You mentioned you're only into this bike for about a hundred bucks. Even if you have to replace the crankset and spindle, it's still well worth what you paid.
