Fortunately in lots of the US and Canada, there are plenty of places to stay, Crown Land up north and in the US, plenty parks forests, state land and federal ones too. It's called freedom. And lots of places allow dispersed camping. Spread out, don't leave a mess or a fire ring. I'm not talking about someone's field, land or such. YRMV.
