I am glad I started this thread cos lots of interesting things are coming out. Whilst I have been living on and off in Spain since 1996 this is not my country of origin. I have never experienced racism here, maybe ignorance of other cultures and religions, but nothing on the scale of what you experience in England. The so called melting pot of culture, religion and language is not so. And as a ethinic minority rider and after years of indirect racism one sometimes wonders about the attitude of some. Dusting someone on a climb or outpowering them on a false flat. Outdoing them in a tt, you on a standard road bike, they on a tt bike, working on a chain gang......who is this guy who doesnt fit into our social lives, social expectations??? Shouldn't he be playing cricket???? In Spain no such problems. Maybe one gets used to racism and expects it as normal and natural???
