In Missouri, large plastic storage tubs are called coolers. Here is my large plastic storage tub with custom straps a long long time ago on the Katy Trail.
Weight=heavy. Cold beer in the middle of summer=priceless.
I 2nd the waterproof drybag over the top of the racks/panniers.
