You may want to also look at some of the Liv Bikes options (these are part of Giant's organization).. eg. the Liv Thrive and Liv Thrive CoMax line would probably be similar to the Spesh bikes you mentioned. These seem to be specced with better groupsets than the Spesh (Tiagra vs. Sora)..
