Looking at the leather on that saddle: notice the dark spot about 1/2 way up the nose? That is a weak point, and an indicator of low-quality leather, the type usually used for cheap gloves. It has a similar mark on the other side, and those areas are where the rider's legs would rub during pedaling.
Are you sure they are not just normal wear marks...
