I've done 1200km brevets on a fixed gear bike.
Truth is, its the only kind of bike I've ridden for years...
mostly 46x16 or 46x18.
That said, southwestern Ontario is pretty flat. If I lived in more hilly terrain, I
might reconsider my gearing choice.
