I agree. Flat-landers can get by with hub motors; geared if you like to use the throttle a lot or have just a few inclines. Mountainers need mid-drives to leverage the gears for climbing; on and off road. Plus, a mid-drive gets the weight off the suspension on FS bikes. That make a real difference on a FS MTB.
