My town thought it best to install its first bike lanes on a couple of residential streets. Residential. With HUNDREDS of driveways and people who have always parked cars along the curbs in front of their houses. But now there are bike lanes there.

I personally am not a huge fan of most bike lanes. Some places they make sense, but other places not. So since there are now bike lanes on these residential streets, parking along the curb would be a violation. I have said on the city's Facebook page that I will be reporting people parking in the bike lane. Why? Normally I don't get worked up about a car in the bike lane, I just go around. But in this case, if there are multiple cars parked in the bike lanes, I will be using the travel lane. And in my experience, I'm far more likely to get harassed on a road with a bike lane that I choose not to use. So if I therefore receive harassment for using the travel lane (I've never been harassed on these roads before the bike lanes), then you better believe I will be reporting all people who park in the bike lanes.
