I agree with the cable routing at the derailleur clamp as being the culprit.
Shimano derailleurs usually have a tab that invites you to route the cable between the tab and the fixing bolt. That will result in the trouble you are having as it shortens the lever moment for shifting.
As others have said, route the cable over the tab or pin and all should work as before.
