Beater of Odds

Here's my beater... 1954 Hercules Tourist, whose 3-speed hub I coincidently rebuilt this weekend before a short 15 mile ride around town. One reason I adore this bike is that her head-badge is (in my opinion) one of the more beautiful variants to adorn a Herc'. I just need to get the original Brooks saddle back on, refresh the cables, and she'll be a beater no more.

One other curious idiosyncrasy of hers is that she has a black (painted?) chainwheel, over which is fixed a circular chrome guard with a black stripe, the effect of which is to highlight and frame the "H"s which make up the center of the chainwheel.

I have yet to see another Hercules set up like this. Has anyone else?
