A chainring bent 1/4" (~6mm) out of plane is unlikely to clear the front derailleur through a full rotation. If the ring isn't scraping on the front derailleur, and what you're seeing is bottom bracket and chainring moving, that's just frame flex. It happens on the road as well; it's just harder to see it there.
