Have a question about the differences between a few Shimano External BB's. I have a Deore that I want to replace as I am getting the bike ready for another long tour and there is just the beginning of some play. I have,available to me, an Ultegra BB. Both are for Hollow Tech Cranks. But the Ultegra comes with an "wrench adapter" to use with my BB wrench.
So my questions are 1) Is there a difference between the two? 2) Is the bearing better in the Ultegra?

That "Ultegra" is a BB-R60 has a smaller exterior cup diameter, is a bit lighter and is claimed to have less friction (probably from improved seals). The included adapter lets you use one of the older HTII installation tools and it does work.
I would have no hesitation using that bb.
