Thanks for the comments. I love the color of your bike, Grand Bois. I'd be temped to find another for city use, A nice, compliant ride, while still feeling sporty.
The first photo was as purchased. I agree, that the modern saddle looks out of place on the bike. The tires are in good shape, but I agree gumwalls would look more appropriate.
It has Simplex bar end shifters which are in good shape, minus the rubber, which I will keep. The RD was replaced with a Shimano Titlist, and on the front, a Simplex with obligatory cracked plastic. I'm tempted to try out Huret derailleurs, but first I think I'll try to locate some decent Simplex Criterium derailleurs.
For those who have also owned/ridden the Gitane TdF, aren't the two bikes comparable to ride? It seems like the two have similar geometry.
