The Crosstrail came with Trigger Sports, which have had no flats in 3000 miles till this weekend when both tires picked up glass(it was a wet day) and punctured. The first flat I fixed as I had one tube, but the second flat a couple hours later required a pickup. I run the front tire at 90psi and the rear at 100psi. Max rating on the Trigger Sport is 100psi.
So, my initial reaction was to get a more puncture resistance tire. But now I see that the ride will be harsher with any brand of puncture resistant tire. I went back to the LBS store that I bought the bike from and they steered me back to just getting new Trigger Sports. They were not a fan of the tougher tires because of ride quality and where I ride. They carried the Specialized Armadillo.

At this point I am leaning to staying with the Trigger Sport. I do not want to mess with liners either.
Trigger Sport came as stock tires on my AWOL. They have squareish profile (if that makes sense) and I tried them on narrower rims too. Ride quality is nothing special and they have nothing on the Schwalbe you chose. Schwalbe will roll better and have better puncture protection. I am all for supporting little local guys but it is your wallet and your ride. I would get Marathons as you originally planned or at least do a bit more research - many better options if you need that Trigger Sport like thread pattern
