But I have seen quite a few steel bikes with chainstays full of rusty pinholes in my day....not terribly common but it does happen. For most people spray oil or the like is probably sufficient....but if you are on a super sweet ride perhaps the extra effort is worthwhile?
Interesting. I didn't mean to imply that frames *can't* rot out, it's just never happened to one of mine. Yeah, if you've got a really sweet ride, go for it-just be careful with that solvent
