You are not safer on the right. In situations like this, you should really take the lane, which is what it sounds like you are doing.
And I've resumed riding with my Fly6 all the time now to have a blinker and camera on drivers, as well as started altering my routes to avoid riding on some streets. I nearly **** my bibs last week at the sound of a car skidding to a stop behind me. How they didn't see me in the middle of the lane - with a full left lane available as well on a non-busy day - is beyond me.
Like Gstein, I do most of my riding on the trainer. I only get out on the weekends.
