Heck even buying custom ... bikes is cheaper than collecting cars like someone else pointed out above. People pay 100 a month for some gyms, exercise classes so the beater/used bike ride and repair is a bargain.

Take up golf and play actively and see what that costs, range 2x a week, then 18-36 on the weekend.
