You shouldn't have any issues riding a rigid on trails, as long as you're not jumping off stuff. Been riding a rigid '93 Specialized Hardrock Sport for quite a while, and it's been holding up really well. The one thing worth noting with a rigid, is if you like to ride hard and fast, you will feel it with the rigid (and might want suspension like me lol).
