Basically I would say 90% of the time pavement.
I'd like to buy a new set of tyres, good ones, and I am debating around the Schwabels, the Marathons and so on. I came across a new type, the
Energizer Plus Tour HS 441 seems to be a good mix of rolling, road grip, off road grip as well as protection and durability. However it appears that it is meant for e-Bikes...
After reading the forum for a while, I can see that the Marathons and in particular the supremes are one of the best ones people recommend, however I am concerned about their performance on gravel and cobbled part of it... and the marathons plus people say are heavy..
So my question is if you had any experiences with this Energizer tyres on your bikes and how about the marathons for hybrid use, should I get the supremes or the plus? Or any other??
Best regards,
Guillermo.
I tried the Marathon Supremes and hated them. High rolling resistance and the inverted tread makes a LOT of noise.
On the other hand, I love Schwalbe's Big Apples and my understanding is that the Big Bens are very similar but with a bit more tread. I have had bad luck with Schwalbe tires though. Three out of four sets I've owned had a tire with a significant "hop" in it and they drove me nuts!! In all fairness, I did get two sets used so they might not have come from the factory that way but my Big Apples were new and even an LBS couldn't get one of them to not "hop".
