I know about the problem with road bikes, but what I don't know is if Tri geometry really solves the breathing problem.
I beleive the Tri geometry does help breathing. with a steeper seat tube, the torso moves forward and opens the angle between the torso and legs (so your thigh isn't coming up so far into your mid-section at the top of the pedal stroke) while flattening the back for aerodynamics.
