Well, I was noticing that about 1/3rd of the area of what should have been a protrusion seems to have a different appearance, smooth rather than rumpled like the obviously broken part. I would have expected to see a more uniform appearance. But like I said, what do I know?
I was really hoping for some evidence that this wasn't all my fault for doing insufficient maintenance. A fool's hope, I know.
