I was put off the SeeSense before I ever saw your video, as I read that it had sensors which determined how bright to make the light. Well I don't want a sensor making that decision for me, I want it to be as bright as I set it and stay that way.
Do you ride with a rear light on the back of your helmet?
The SeeSense can be operated either via the physical button on the unit, or via the app. The nice thing about that is you can verify what setting the light is on with the app, and it'll tell you the current charge level, which is nice. SeeSense's website is a bit confusing . . . it advertises that the Icon+ can be personalized to turn off the motion sensing and ambient light sensing. In reality, that was true for the version prior to the current one. The current version -- which is the one I purchased -- can only be modified via the app. And, frustratingly, the only things that you can modify with the app is the brightness level of the light (0-100%), flash mode, whether or not you want theft alert, and whether or not you want crash alert. So you can't turn on/off motion sensing, and you can't turn on/off ambient light sensing.
In SeeSense's defense, I will say that it has accelerometers that will detect your movement and adjust the flash setting. So if you're slowing down, it'll flash a more attention-getting pattern. However -- and I had this verified by my girls -- if you're riding a constant pace the pattern/brightness displayed is the same as what was in the video. Again, I want my light to be bright, annoying, and attention-getting ALL THE TIME.
