Then last year I rode rested more but mostly just long rides with either 20' climbs or vo2 at the beginning. This year so far I'm trying to get hours in between the rain and figure out the new roads. But making sure to hit some unstructured vo2 during the week and long rides with threshold climbs on the weekend.

Maybe I just have to add a midweek threshold workout for a while.
i'm not a coach at all but after that year i think i began to gravitate to the vo2 workouts when i feel very good and motivated, sweet spot when threshold isn't on, and then over unders. I think i had good response to doing longer time durations at threshold and the over unders. 2x20 @100% was a common workout this year and 3x10x6 (over unders). hit quite a few PBs time durations not 20m
