All of the "experts" tell us that a good pair of walking shoes should last between 300 and 500 miles, and should be replaced every 3 or 4 months. But I've got a pair of New Balance 890v5 kicks that are over a year old now, and have about 900 miles on them. They are doing quite well - they compare very favorably with my newer shoes that I thought I was
supposed to buy because my old shoes were
supposed to wear out.
I understand that walking in worn-out kicks can hurt knees and backs, and I can be walking a thin line, but is this "300 to 500" mile limit on new shoes just shoe company hype??!?
