George Sheehan was a running guru in the '70 who advocated long slow distance. I decided on a Sunday ride today coving rural and city riding of about 30 miles. I took my time and stopped along the way to visit graveyard. I found it thoroughly enjoyable.
I totally love that kind of riding! I don't always ride slowly and deliberately, but I find it very rewarding when I do.
When I'm on tour I usually try to keep things at a gentle, enjoyable pace and give myself plenty of opportunities to stop and stretch. If I was in a hurry I'd just drive!
