Yeah the frame alone was worth the asking price, but if you aren't a mechanic and don't want a bike build project, I can understand your reticence.
I can strip one down and rebuild it but your right about a bike build. I really wasn't wanting a bike build. My other two Univega's need to be serviced including new cables, tires, tubes and overhaul the bottom bracket which I can do myself. I was sort of thinking that if this bike has nice components on it and I could pick it up for $140 that I would just put my other two Univega's aside and ride this one this riding season coming up and I wouldn't have to worry about doing maintenance. But, as it turned out all the components were junk and I wasn't looking for a project. The components that were on it probably wouldn't last the 1500 -2,000 miles I usually put on one in a riding season and I didn't want to swap components from my other two Univega's. After a few days now, it's just the frame that bothers me. But it just wasn't right for me and another frame or complete bike with nice components will come along again. Until then, time to start breaking down the other two Univega's and get them ready for this riding season I reckon.
