Freezing fog is another source of black ice where the air is warm and humid but the ground is still frozen solid. So a weather station will report temps above freezing, maybe up to 40F, but that is measured at thermometer height (2m I think?) while when the ground never thawed, the humid air hitting it will form a basically invisible layer of ice. It is the worst.
