I'd be interested in hearing about the details of how the LED was installed. I've heard from a number of people interested in retrofitting an old headlight with a LED. To do a good job, the LED should be provided with a thermal path to the external airflow, and also be equipped with suitable optics. Neither of these things are easy if you want to maintain the vintage look.

If the light doesn't get used much, and it won't be used at night, then it may be sufficient to come up with a fixture to mount the LED in the existing reflector.
