Little to be gained with an 8 speed cassette. You'll get one gear ratio after the fastest 4 on your current cassette, and one faster than available on your cassette, but doubt it's too helpful for touring purpouses.
Thank you, Yes, I too like the 6 speed setup. Aftr rebuilding, cleaning , greasing this freewheel, I think I can trust it for a 100 mi. trip. In the future, I will learn how to build wheels and convert to cassette, as others have suggested. KB
