As I said in my prior response to you (in the very next sentence after the part you quoted), I'm certainly open to revising my stance if I hear new reasons/arguments/evidence.
What do you think are the advantages of hard-anodized rims?
I should add that "not showing road grime" compared to polished-silver rims is a practical cosmetic advantage, separate from aiming for a certain period-correct look.
