Pretty amazing technology. I have an ebike. The motor and battery are not hidden. I don't race.

If UCI wants to get mechanical cheating out of cycling, I believe it would be pretty easy. Have everyone race on the same bikes issued by the UCI on race day. I know, that takes the money out of racing for bike manufacturers. And, it still doesn't address the issue of biological doping. I guess we just continue to assume that the winners are the best cheaters.

For the rest of us, I hope the technology continues to move forward. However, I don't believe there is any reason to have such technology "hidden." I'm sure my 350 watt direct drive hub motor delivers significantly more power, and for a much longer time, than the small motors shown in the story.
