I can't say I've ever seen a dyed black hard anodized bicycle rim. I was simply noting that it can be and is done. I make some camera accessories for which the main component is an aluminum forging which hard anodized and dyed black.

FWIW you can usually tell the difference between standard thin black anodizing and hard black anodizing by the shininess of the former, or lack thereof of the latter.
