You've made a great point, honestly. On a low end bike, replace the crankset (and wheels and suspension fork) and you can cut pounds off the bike weight for fairly little money. I've been caught up in the world of weight weenie-ism for too long as well and totally missed just how easy it is to cut weight when cutting weight wasn't given any consideration.
