How did you come by your sets of black HA rims?
It has more of that dull look, that characterizes true-black hard-anodizing, according to joejack951.
These must be the exception from the norm then I take it.
They came on my '88 Schwinn Prologue, and also my '88 Ontare (called Avion in Schwinn's 88 catalog). In the catalog the Avion spec'd with Weinmann 9018 Aero Carrera rims, which I assume these are but can't find much info on them to confirm. It has hardly been ridden and the tires appeared original and severely dry rotted too, I just got this bike from another BF member.
The other set came on my '88 Prologue, which seems to have nearly identical spec (Prologue was sold as frameset so up to bike store or individual buyer to pick components) never the less it had the same full Suntour Sprint group, rolls seat, brakes, and same Weinmann wheels
